Years of experience, craftsmanship, honest advice and use of the best materials and tools: that is De Dakencentrale B.V. from Enschede, which provides excellent waterproofing of all flat roofs in De Kop Handelkade in Deventer.
The roofs of the Het Blok, De Frontier and De Linie buildings will be fitted with Soprema bitumen roofing, in which a proportion of recycled bitumen is used. Soprema and De Dakencentrale B.V. are thus making an important contribution to closing the material cycle and the high sustainability ambition in this project.
“To prevent condensation forming in the roof insulation, we first apply a bitumen vapor retarder to the concrete substrates,” says Roy Tuin, co-director-owner of De Dakencentrale B.V. “On top of this comes a layer of PS slope insulation combined with flat PIR insulation, which ensures that rainwater flows neatly to the drains and does not remain on top of the roofs. We then install a Unicoat 460P60 bituminized polyester mat underlayment and Garantgum 470K14 MEC WW plastomeric bitumen top layer with polyester/glass fleece insert. The roof garden is additionally provided with a root-resistant membrane, which provides long-term protection of the roof covering against root growth, leaks, subsidence and deformation. A landscaper installs the roof garden here at a later stage.”
Biggest challenge involved the roof of The Frontier, says Tuin, where work had to be done at great heights. “This made us dependent on weather and wind, but fortunately the weather gods were kind to us.” In total, De Dakencentrale B.V. has ten experienced and no-nonsense roof specialists, four of whom operate in Deventer. Next spring the last roofs will be completed, says Tuin, after which De Dakencentrale B.V. will be happy to return for periodic maintenance, cleaning and inspection. The roofs come with a standard ten-year waterproofing warranty.
