With more than thirty years of experience, BENO Projectafbouw B.V. is the specialist in the field of high-quality interior finishing. From wall- to ceiling- and floor systems, acoustic provisions and paneling, in which a high quality, fast assembly and tight finishing are central. Following telling projects such as De Catharina in Zaandam and Berghaus and Bajeskwartier building G in Amsterdam, BENO Projectafbouw B.V. is broadly involved in the redevelopment and expansion of the ABN AMRO office in Amsterdam-Zuidoost.
BENO Projectafbouw B.V. became involved by BAM Bouw en Techniek when the redevelopment and expansion of the ABN AMRO office moved from structural work to finishing. “Our work included metal stud walls and associated plasterboard finishes, suspended ceilings, lamella ceilings, wood wool cement ceilings and various paneling,” says Jens Beerepoot, Project Manager at BENO Projectafbouw B.V.

To realize all the walls, BENO Projectafbouw B.V. applied various materials from Gyproc. “Based on the noise requirements, break-in requirements and fire resistance requirements, we selected the right plating types for each room and location,” Beerepoot says. “From impact-resistant Gyproc Habito to non-combustible Gyproc Glasroc drywall. During the project, we were also asked whether we could go along with ABN AMRO's sustainability ambition. A great answer is Gyproc Regips A plasterboards, which consist of no less than 30% of recycled plaster material and 100% of recycled cardboard. In addition, we used Isover Isonat wood fiber insulation boards, which are extracted from residual wood chips and have excellent acoustic properties. For this reason, these insulation boards were applied to all the walls of the renovation building.”
BENO Projectafbouw B.V. fitted the entire basement with wood-wool cement panels, which provide post-insulation of the structure as well as better room acoustics. “Where in the existing building a package of 100 mm thick was applied, in the new building packages of 225 mm thick were chosen,” says Beerepoot.
“The same is true for building section B, where wood-wool cement panels with five rather than two drill points complete the fire separation.”
Biggest challenge according to him is the short construction time. “We did an enormous amount of work in a relatively short time. Both in terms of work preparation and in execution. In the first phase of finishing, for example, we worked in three construction streams.
As a result, at peak times more than forty BENO specialists were active on the construction site, which also placed high demands on our work preparation and project supervision. Especially in combination with the high and diverse (quality) requirements.” Meanwhile, this pressure has eased somewhat. “At the moment the finishing touches are being put on the assembly and level A (sauce-ready) finishing of the metal stud walls, in accordance with NOA/TBA guidelines. In addition, we are busy assembling the various ceiling types, including associated paneling.”
Standard system ceilings with 60×120 ceiling tiles are used in the sanitary and facility areas, work closets, shipping areas, kitchens and cockpits, with the choice of ceiling tile type tailored to the room function, Beerepoot says. “For example, in the sanitary and facility areas and cockpits, Rockfon Krios ceiling tiles are used. In the work cabinets and shipping areas will be Eurocoustic Minerval ceiling tiles, while in the kitchens Eurocoustic Ultra Clean ceiling tiles were chosen. In the common areas of the cores and building section D will be Hunter Douglas Heartfelt slat ceilings. Finally, we realized Hunter Douglas Beta-B Hook-On ceilings in the conference hall, making the ABN AMRO project a nice calling card for our
broad services.”
