In order to keep the floors of JYSK's new distribution center in Lelystad optimally tensile and load-bearing, durable and crack-free, Steady Vloerenservice b.v. was commissioned by Van Berlo to supply and expertly install no less than 3,250 tons of floor reinforcement.
Steady Vloerenservice b.v. specializes in the supply and installation of reinforcing steel for foundations and commercial floors for distribution centers, among other things. Following 105,000 m2 of foundation reinforcement and floor reinforcement for the new distribution center for Dokvast in Echt-Susteren, 210,000 m2 of floor reinforcement for Amsterdam Logistic Cityhub in Amsterdam and 109,000 m2 of floor reinforcement for Bol.com's fulfillment center in Waalwijk, Steady Vloerenservice b.v. was responsible for the supply and installation of no less than 3,250 tons of reinforcement steel for JYSK's new distribution center in Lelystad.
Steady Vloerenservice b.v. was awarded this extensive contract by Van Berlo of Veghel, which has specialized in high-end logistics concrete floors since 1979. “We have been working closely with Van Berlo for 17 years,” says Gunther Geluykens, director-owner of Steady Vloerenservice b.v. “As a result, we have now specialized in the supply and processing of floor reinforcement for high-end logistics concrete floors. A specialty that came in very handy in the project in Lelystad.”

In most distribution centers, Steady Vloerenservice b.v. realizes interior floors, Geluykens says. “However, a different approach was chosen for the JYSK distribution center. Because of the impressive height of the two highbays, the steel construction was made on top of the floor. Instead of a separate foundation and floor, we realized one complete foundation slab, in the form of a thick floor with heavy reinforcement assembled in the open air. We started the work in November 2024, dealing with a very tight schedule. In a short period of time, we processed as much as one ton of steel. Because the weight of the floor reinforcement was too heavy to weld mats from, we worked here largely with loose bars. A labor-intensive process, with an impressive result. The logistics of the steel were also a challenge and tower cranes were expertly used where necessary.”
Once the building was sufficiently wind and watertight, Steady Vloerenservice b.v. delivered and installed the reinforcing steel for the floor floors, followed by the floor reinforcement of the ground floor floors. “At 120,000 m2, this was another impressive job,” Geluykens said. “The project for JYSK is really a project of large numbers - and in terms of tonnage even our largest project to date. For one year, we worked with a team of six to eight craftsmen on site, scaling up to as many as 20 men during peak periods. All rebar was calculated by us in great detail, ordered in phases and delivered to the project at exactly the right time, which placed high demands on our work preparation and planning.” In December 2025, Steady Vloerenservice b.v. successfully installed the final floor reinforcement.
