Cladding of interior walls, columns and cornices
Edge Stadium, the former headquarters of Loyens & Loeff in Amsterdam, was thoroughly preserved. Facade construction company Aldowa collaborated on this project, which is not standard work for the company. "Usually we clad the outside of the facade, in this project, however, we make the cladding on the inside."
The inside of the facades will be clad from floor to floor, explains project manager Martien Trouborst of Aldowa. "There will be a suspended ceiling and we will cover it from the facade with a cove. This gives the building more depth from the outside. In addition, we provide the covering for the columns. A whole structure of steel H-beams is needed to keep the floors in the air, and we also clad them." In addition, Aldowa provided Edge Stadium with floor edge cladding in the atrium, roof caps and some 1,000 meters of trim. All components were done in aluminum. The company began production in week 25 and production and assembly are currently in full swing. The work is expected to be completed by the end of the year.
Aldowa's activities are broad. The company not only clad facades, but also viaducts, noise walls and other infrastructure with aluminum, stainless steel and galvanized steel, among other materials. Trouborst: "We turn the architect's design into a manufacturable product. Our engineering department models and draws everything itself in 2D and 3D. Then we make the design ready for production. In our sheet metal shop the cladding is made and via an external coating company it goes to the building site. The assembly is then carried out by our assembly partners."
Aldowa has participated in many beautiful and leading projects, such as Holland Casino in Utrecht, the Atrium building in Amsterdam and the Markthal in Rotterdam. "For that, we made the exterior, so there our work is very visible," he said.
