Sustainable energy supply for 't Heycop

Sustainable energy supply for 't Heycop

In a construction team with construction company Van Wijnen Utrecht, Linthorst Techniek worked out a customized proposal. "Through insulating measures, the energy demand of 't Heycop will be greatly reduced," says director Gertjan Linthorst. "The remaining energy demand will be met by a sustainable energy supply for which Linthorst Techniek bears the design and realization responsibility."

In the design process, several options were worked out and calculated using simulation software, he says. "In the new situation, 't Heycop will be sustainably heated with a high-temperature heat pump combined with heat-cold storage in the ground. The gas connection and central heating boilers will be removed." A special feature of this project is that the adjacent care complex will also be connected to the sustainable generation system, creating a "local heat network. "With the supply of 3,200 GJ of sustainable heat, this building will also be heated virtually gas-free. By creating more volume with this, the cost price per GJ of heat also drops."

To complement the heating systems in 't Heycop, Linthorst Techniek is also fulfilling residents' urgent desire to combat overheating (heat stress) in the summer. "For cooling in the homes, we are installing a unique delivery system that allows both heating and cooling," Linthorst said. "For existing high-rise buildings, the application of cooling is unique and innovative. With the expected further warming of the Dutch climate and the increasing insulation of existing high-rise buildings, this is an important solution for maintaining the value of Dutch home ownership."

Wij Maken Energie, Linthorst Techniek's sister company, will operate the energy system after completion. From now on, the residents of 't Heycop will receive "heat and cold as a service" based on the protection of the Heat Act and with rates well below the maximum ("no more than before").
