Various metal components in the finishing of the new stadium for SC Cambuur, such as stadium roofs, flashings, sandwich panels and aluminum slats, were supplied and assembled by Metaalbouw TSV. The company from Nieuw-Buinen in Drenthe kept as many factors as possible in its own hands, using its own people.
"The engineering started in May 2022; that's when we started drawing the stadium in both 2D and 3D," says marketing associate Carolien Bos of Metaalbouw TSV. "Assembly started in May 2023, with a total execution time of 10 months. In the preliminary stage, we started as a construction team and our engineer fully participated in the elaboration of the stadium design. Because we started the preparation early, many parts could be delivered prefabricated. As many building kits as possible were made in advance so that they could be delivered to the construction site part by part."
For example, the engineering was tailored to the working widths of the more than 10,000 square meters of sandwich panels, finished in the colors RAL9003 white and RAL7016 anthracite. "Again, it was a big challenge that this came out right, because a sandwich panel has a certain tolerance, and the dimensions took that into account," Bos continues. "The dimensions of the facades were matched to the working width of the sandwich panels. As a result, different working widths were applied. All the flashing around the frames was delivered prefabricated by our sister company Plaatzetterij Drentse-Poort."
By using different working widths of sandwich panels on the inside and outside, Metaalbouw TSV was able to give the stadium the look it wanted. The slats in club colors, mounted by the supplier, are also part of Metaalbouw TSV's work. The stadium roof includes no less than 2.5 soccer fields of steel roofing. Bos: "The large roofs, 12,636 square meters in total, were assembled quickly in good consultation and with clear laying plans. By putting a little more time into the preparation - in good consultation with the client and subcontractors, the assembly went virtually flawlessly. Through our knowledge and expertise and the skill of our assembly personnel, we were able to realize this beautiful structure with passion."
