Complete package of technical installations

For the new PLUS distribution center in Deventer, Van Hees is supplying the electrical installations and lighting. During the preliminary process, the total package of specific PLUS requirements was also worked out. "The tenant requirements are a bit greater in one project than in another," says John van Eck, manager of projects, service and maintenance at Van Hees.

For example, the company is asking for charging facilities for electric cars and bicycles and the necessary connections for the cooling system, W system and sprinkler system. The finishing touch is the installation of a camera security system, access control, a sound system for music and broadcasting and a complete data installation. All in all, a huge project, as the total space is about 77,000 square meters.

Five transformers

The size of the distribution center made the project extra interesting for Van Hees Elektrotechniek. Van Eck: "Part of the refrigerated hall is twenty meters high. Five transformers are being installed to provide sufficient power. That doesn't happen very often. The large distances require slightly different preparation and planning. After all, the building is 370 meters wide. But big or small: everything depends on good preparation, cooperation and the right equipment. A perfect cooperation with the other parties thereby guarantees the BREEAM 'Excellent' certificate."

Collaborate

The team constructing this distribution center has worked together before, which gives benefits. "We are working on this project with several parties who have known each other for some time. We know exactly what we need from each other and get along well. Because the building is largely refrigerated, that requires good coordination as far as the installations are concerned."

The electrical installation company is currently hard at work on the construction site in Deventer. In the start-up phase with about ten men and in the busiest periods with thirty to forty men simultaneously. The work is going well and the delivery of materials is also going as planned. "In the past two years, because of corona and the situation in Ukraine, everyone has learned to order on time. Fortunately, by now the market has also calmed down."
