Playful building thanks to roof and wall cladding

Soon Wasco will be able to use its new distribution center in Deventer, which was built on behalf of Ten Brinke. Elan Varsseveld provided the sandwich panels, aesthetic box sections and Alucobond elements there.

"For us this is a relatively large project, with a roof area of 34,000 m2, a wall area of 8,500 m2, 200 m2 of composite and 1,700 meters of aesthetic box sections," says Kayh Arink, director at Elan Varsseveld. Because the building has to meet BREEAM requirements, they are already paying attention to the origin of the materials and the distance from the supplier to the construction site during procurement. "Ideally, the suppliers should be located nearby so that less transportation is needed. After all, this results in fewer emissions. Thus, in the preliminary process, the material/setting to be delivered was taken into account and bundled as much as possible to avoid additional transportation. So there are as few polluting activities as possible," Arink said.

Cooperation first

With such a size, this construction project was a challenge that required thorough planning and coordination. Everyone had to fit into the little train. Thanks to the close cooperation between Ten Brinke, Elan and Imetaal, the construction project was successfully completed on time and on budget. Open communication and regular coordination made it possible to react quickly to changes and any problems to be solved. 

The end result is an impressive building with a beautiful roof and wall construction, seamlessly integrating composite and aesthetic box sections. This project is an inspiring example of craftsmanship, teamwork and innovation in the construction industry.
