Following on from DC Nabuurs I, a second logistics center of over 33,000 m2 is being built for tenant Footlocker at the entrance to business park Laarakker in Cuijk. As a total supplier of precast concrete elements, Preco is supplying for the new DC Nabuurs II, among other things, all insulation walls, elevator cores, duct and wide slab floors and a number of special round solid walls. An interview with Robbert Blokland, project manager at Preco.
DC Nabuurs II is a design by Heembouw Architects and will soon form a striking landmark at the entrance to the business park. According to Nabuurs, the large distribution center offers a healthy, inspiring and safe working environment for both current and future employees. Much attention was paid to the design for maximum integration and efficiency on the logistics site with minimal inconvenience to the surrounding area. The rounded corners are a typical example of this seamless integration. Leave that to the "precast concrete specialists" of Preco.
After a relatively short engineering process, Preco started production of the precast concrete elements in late July 2023. "We delivered all the insulation walls all around (a total of about 2,000 m2) and also some solid round walls for the exterior facade," says Blokland. "The latter in particular were of considerable size. We also supplied the hollow-core slabs, predominantly 400 mm thick and accounting for a total of 4,600 m2. At the level of the rounded facades, the floors were 'supplemented' with wide slab floors that we also supplied. Curves just work out better in a wide slab."
Finally, the concrete elevator cores also come from Preco's factory. "From mid-November last year, we started delivering the concrete elements in phases. The last delivery took place at the beginning of this year." All in all, Blokland looks back on a project that went well. "Heembouw is simply a fine party to work with." DC Nabuurs II is scheduled for completion in the third quarter of this year.
