Steel construction for distribution center Deventer

In the summer, Wasco will occupy the new distribution center at DC Rigastraat in Deventer. The building is built from a steel structure of approximately 1,200 tons of steel. This was produced by Imetaal Staalbouw, as were all the stairs, fencing and other steel components.

Optimal deployment

The company was on site for 18 weeks, after which the final assembly took place. Planning was tight, because the date for assembly was fixed. Before then, everything had to be engineered, drawn, calculated and produced. Kemperman: "Assembly is faster than production, so we had to make sure the materials were ready. It is required that the suppliers deliver on time and that everything is transported on time. All parties have to make arrangements with each other. That makes the process more difficult, but also just as beautiful. If a project goes smoothly, you get satisfaction from that and that makes it special. It also did the atmosphere on the construction site good here."

Occasionally it was a matter of waiting to see if a delivery would arrive on time and if assembly could be done on time, Kemperman admits. Then we had to work overtime. "That caused stress here and there, but we have been working with the suppliers for years. They are flexible and willing to go the extra mile to get the delivery done anyway."
