"A great boost for my company to be able to furnish a Porsche dealership!" This is how Pronk describes the assignment he received from Michel Arfman, director of Porsche Centrum Twente. Because despite a number of leading other projects ABRO has already completed, a Porsche Center was not yet part of his portfolio. "I did drink a glass of wine to that," says Pronk. "It's not the biggest assignment, but in terms of name recognition it might be the best. And, of course, it's wonderful that I drive by the property at least 30,000 times a year." Moreover, he is a Porsche enthusiast. "I drive a Cayenne for business and a GT 3 RS in my spare time. So I'm really super proud of this job."
The work itself is also special, says Pronk. "The level of finishing at Porsche is really high level: class A. We also had to adhere strictly to the Porsche space book. This prescribes fabrics and materials. Moreover, everything is millimeter work. The customers who will soon buy a car there expect the very best."
ABRO is providing PVC flooring, carpet tiles, painting, glass walls, metal stud walls, hpl walls, ceilings, expanded metal and is tackling acoustics at the Porsche Center. Despite strict regulations, the company provided alternatives for a number of materials. "Things that we felt could be a lot cheaper. We put that forward and that was listened to carefully." Currently, six ABRO staff members are on the job full-time, handling the rough finishing. "When finishing, we scale up to 12 men."
Once Aan de Stegge Twello delivered the building wind and watertight, ABRO took over. "We built on Aan de Stegge's drawings and the Porsche space book and made our own view drawings and 3D models from them," Pronk explains. "We work very well with the other construction parties. That too is special about this project. No one is getting in the other's way. We really do it together."
