Platform on new construction, renovation, restoration and transformation
An important part of the transformation of De Klokkenberg estate is the replacement of the window frames. After all, these largely determine the appearance of the renovated Klokkenberg. V.P.G. Aluminium Frames selected Van Reynaers' SL 38 renovation window frame in the classic yellow color for this purpose.
In total, the project involves some 1,000 window frames. "Or over 3,000 m2", reckons Richard van Zanten, general manager of V.P.G. Aluminum Frames. "Because of this large number and the status of National Monument, proper preparation was essential. For this reason, V.P.G. Aluminium Kozijnen first made a design drawing and then a trial window, which it submitted for approval to Schonck, Schul & Compagnie, the architect and the aesthetics committee. Only when everyone agreed with the proposal did V.P.G. Aluminium Kozijnen initiate production."
What is striking is the rod distribution of the window frames.

An important requirement of the Building Code Committee is that the renovation window frames be placed slightly recessed in the façade and have slim window profiles. In that case, the SL 38- renovation windows fit seamlessly with the former frames. "A trial window is then the best solution," Van Zanten knows. "Everyone can then see what the window frame looks like in reality, and no one is left with any surprises during construction." The trial window for De Klokkenberg was approved by all parties at once.
Antique yellow
The color of the window frames - antique yellow - was developed specifically for De Klokkenberg. While the color is available for regular paintwork, it is not available for enameling aluminum window frames. Van Zanten: "In fact, everything is done in the V.P.G. factory. Here the aluminum is delivered in large lengths, after which we process them with sawing, drilling and screwing to create a ready-made frame. At the construction site itself, only the assembly and glazing is done. Striking are the window frames with "Wiener Sprossen", the rods that divide the window into small sections. And we are also quite proud of the two large folding walls in the rear facade."
