An important part of the renovation of Kromme Nieuwegracht 66 in Utrecht consists of the installation of bluesteel elements. In particular, the blue steel frames around the existing window frames, the steel cladding of the central main staircase and the bars for the holes in the walls give the renovated monument a beautiful, contemporary and exclusive look.
Executor of the metal works is the BoMax group. At the moment, the project is in its completion stage for it. "We fitted the new loft with fencing," says director Adriaan van Polen. "We fitted the interior window frames with rear windows, clad the main staircase with bluesteel, and fitted the back house with a steel staircase, also complete with fencing, of course."
Not only during preparation, but also during execution, BoMax group worked closely with the project's architect and contractor. "Renovation projects go hand in hand with new insights," says Van Polen. "For example, the main staircase was initially going to be clad in new wood, but when the architect saw the blue-steel frames, he decided that the stair treads should also be clad with this. We reviewed that decision together and looked at photos until we were sure it would be as the architect envisioned. We love that mutual involvement. It's the same way we've been working with De Waal Construction Company for thirty years now. We know what we can gain from each other."
For De Waal, this means that it can rely at all times on expertly finished steel elements of high quality and at a fair price. "BoMax group has now been in existence for over forty years and in that time has built up a great deal of know-how and craftsmanship, complemented by high-quality, state-of-the-art machinery. Our clients benefit greatly from this."
