Handsome installation technique in almelo

Challenges at altitude

In the expansion of the high-rise warehouse in Almelo, technology plays a crucial role. Loohuis Installation Group does not shy away from a challenge and took care of the installation technology. "The height of the hall was one of the biggest challenges," says Leo Prinsen, project manager at Loohuis. "With a height of 24 meters, you not only have to work with aerial platforms, but also make sure that the heat is distributed properly throughout the space. That's why we installed 108 thrust fans."

Loohuis Installation Group, a family business with twelve branches, is a versatile installation company that masters a variety of techniques. From electrical engineering to climate control and security. The Almelo branch specializes in utility and industrial construction, such as the high-rise warehouse in Almelo. Other branches focus more on residential construction. With some 650 employees, Loohuis has built a strong reputation over the years as a reliable partner in installation technology.

The assignment in Almelo was extensive. Prinsen explains: "We are responsible for the complete installation of electricity, data, ventilation, water and climate systems in the new offices and the 24-meter high hall. This high-rise building is fully automated and used as a warehouse, which is connected to the existing distribution center via a walkway and production bridge. In addition to the technical installations in the hall, we also installed heat pumps for climate control and in the offices we installed a VRV system."

Building at a height of 24 meters

Working at great heights requires extra care and planning. "We were working with aerial platforms," says Prinsen. "Building at 24 meters takes more time than you're used to. At the top, you have a lot more movement. We also had to take into account production times and transporting materials upwards. Moreover, with high-rise construction, the hot air from the heaters rises to the top. So we hung 108 thrust fans to distribute the hot air evenly. We also provide the fixtures for even light output in the hall."

Sustainability first

The entire project was designed with sustainability in mind and received the prestigious BREEAM "Very Good" certification. "Everything here is about sustainability," says Prinsen. "The warehouse is heated with heat pumps and heaters. Underfloor heating in the shipping area provides a pleasant working environment. In addition, we are increasingly working with solar energy solutions and battery storage so that companies can optimize their energy balance." Loohuis continues to innovate in the area of sustainability, with a special department focused on energy-neutral projects. "Our energy branch is working on solutions such as solar panels with battery storage, so that companies can use their stored solar energy to charge forklifts at night, for example," Prinsen explains. "Think about smart energy-efficient heating and power management systems, for example. So we are constantly working on sustainable solutions."
