Craftsmanship and durability make Wonderwoods watertight

On the corner of the Jaarbeursboulevard and Croeselaan in Utrecht, the impressive towers of Wonderwoods are rising. The seals were done by Tissink BV, Aron Tissink's company that has stood for craftsmanship, reliability and sustainable solutions for more than thirteen years. He talks about his expertise and the challenges involved in this huge project.

The green giant Wonderwoods will be completed this year and not only provides space for living, working and recreation, but also sets a new standard for biodiversity in cities. Project developer G&S& has rightly named the project one of the best mixed-use projects in Europe. Behind this success lies the craftsmanship of many parties, including Tissink BV, specialists in sealing and sustainable protection.

Masters of sealing

Tissink BV excels in liquid seals and protecting buildings and technical structures with high-quality synthetic resin products. What makes the company unique is its focus on sustainability and custom solutions to difficult sealing issues. "We are strong in out-of-the-box thinking. How do you get difficult details watertight? We know that like no other," says Tissink. Starting out as a roofer, he grew into an entrepreneur with a team of about 18 professionals. Together they realize sealing solutions throughout the Netherlands, and even beyond. 

Technology meets planning

Tissink BV became involved with Wonderwoods through a loyal customer with whom she has worked for many years. "We permanently matched and sealed all kinds of different substrates," she says. The challenge? "If it's not properly waterproofed now, you'll never get to it later," says Tissink. This required a careful approach, in which the expertise in durable Triflex systems came in handy. Yet the biggest challenge was not so much technical, but rather tight planning and logistics. "We didn't have a day to spare. Everything had to be finished on time, and we succeeded."

Pride in precision and craftsmanship

What makes the team at Tissink most proud? That, despite the pressure, the work was delivered perfectly and on time. When another company went bankrupt, Tissink BV even took over additional work and managed to complete that successfully as well. "The balance between speed and quality is always tricky. Because what we do, we want to do really well. Our guys delivered exactly what I promised. It's nice to see that you can rely on that cooperation," Tissink said.
