Individual energy

't Kompas op Zuid is a current example of the regular cooperation between Daiwa House and Van den Pol Elektrotechniek. "In Tilburg, our responsibilities include the E-facilities and smart LED lighting in the general areas," says project manager Sebas L'Ortye. "The preparations take place at Daiwa House, on site everything is connected."

Many choices

Usually, Van den Pol installs the main power supply from which the power goes to the apartments. "With such a collective connection, there is one energy supplier for the entire complex. In 't Kompas op Zuid, all apartments get an individual small-consumption connection. The client is thus giving residents the opportunity to choose their own supplier." Freedom of choice is also the starting point for the data supply. "Each apartment will receive both a CAI and data connection. Residents can select their preferred provider." All this individual customization creates a substantial amount of cabling. "Planning and coordination also require attention."

Green generation

Van den Pol is responsible for the PV installation. "Generated energy is often used in apartment complexes for collective facilities. Here this is partly the case with 44 panels on the bicycle shed. The remaining 200 solar panels are distributed among the individual connections." This has become more common recently, according to L'Ortye. "Sometimes we even convert the existing PV installation of a complex to generation for the individual homes instead of the general areas." Sensors that control the LED lighting also contribute to the sustainable nature of the complex. "If no motion is detected, the lighting automatically dims back to 10%."

Second Life

Because of Daiwa House's modular construction system, parts of the complex can later be disassembled and reused. "This also applies to the E-installations such as the meter boxes. Even cables can be given a second life, sometimes in a shortened version. Of course only if it is certain that they still work flawlessly."
