10,000 m2 of wide slab floors for social housing Wildenburg

VERSATILE PREFABRICATED MEZZANINE FLOORS

Along the Wildenburg, Keyenburg and Denenburg in Rotterdam, three residential blocks with a total of 110 social rental apartments have been realized on behalf of Hef Wonen. De Hoop Pekso designed, calculated and delivered almost 10,000 m2 of wide slab floors for this project, which provide a stable and even floor construction from the second floor up.

De Hoop Pekso's wide slab floors are reinforced system floors poured with traditional gravel concrete. The floors are constructed from a concrete shell of 50, 60 or 70 mm, which is provided with constructively required plate reinforcement and continuous lattice girders. In addition to their structural task, these lattice girders also function directly as lifting points.

Four-sided calculated

For the project at the Wildenburg, De Hoop Pekso calculated and drew just under 10,000 m2 of wide slab floors, including pouring facilities and recesses, on behalf of Ten Brinke Bouw, Doetinchem branch. "The biggest challenge here was the second floor of the outdoor area, where the wide slab floors had to be calculated on four sides," says Ron van Beusekom, Rayon Manager at De Hoop Pekso. "All floors were worked out in BIM and coordinated in detail with the main structural engineer, building contractor and installers, after which the floors were prefabricated in our own factory in Oosterhout and under the best climate and working conditions. Thanks to this working method, clashes and failure costs were cleverly overcome during execution." The floors in Rotterdam have a concrete shell of 60 mm, he says. "About 21 kilograms of steel reinforcement is included per square meter."

Great freedom of form, neat connection

De Hoop Pekso's wide slab floors guarantee great freedom of form. "The piping is easy to incorporate into the compression layer, while auction edges guarantee a good mutual connection," said Van Beusekom. "Moreover, thanks to the smooth underside, the floors are immediately ready for spraying."

Delivery according to laying order

All the floors were delivered to the construction site on demand, he says. "A total of 63 freights were needed to deliver all the floors. Because the floor slabs were stacked on site exactly according to the laying order, they could be laid directly from our trucks in the correct positions."
