New eye-catcher on High Tech Campus

Aluminum composite facade elements in three vibrant color tones

To facilitate the strong growth of our high-tech industry, the High Tech Campus in Eindhoven has the ambition to realize at least 100,000 m2 of high-quality R&D buildings on the south side of its site in the coming years. Lucis One is the first in the series of developments and concerns a ten-story office building at High Tech Campus 91. The building stands out not only because of its transparent and green facades, but also because of the aluminum composite façade elements in three expressive color tones.

With its many years of experience in facade construction, MGB Cladding Systems is able to transform any design and idea into a high-quality finished product. But also to perfectly match aesthetics, manufacturability and price. The new construction of Lucis One is a fine calling card for this. "Commissioned by Bouwbedrijf van de Ven, we produced and assembled the horizontal facade bands, vertical facade panels, eaves, columns and cassettes in aluminum composite, where the cassettes are also equipped with a bed hook system (hook-in system)," says Peter Verhoofstad, director of MGB Cladding Systems. "We translated the architect's aesthetic design into a feasible and makeable design for the façade elements, which focused on efficient use of materials and easy assembly from fixed scaffolding. All elements are made of 4 mm aluminum composite and finished in Bronze Metallic, Satin Brown and Brown Gray (RAL 7013) colors."

Good coordination was essential in this project, says Verhoof-stad. Both in the engineering phase and during assembly. "We assembled the high-rise from a fixed scaffold, installing the complete rear structure in a construction train and from bottom to top. From here, the scaffolding dropped two strokes every ten days, to get the building scaffolded again as quickly as possible. The assembly of our aluminum composite façade elements always took a few days, because after us, the profiled façade cladding, the steel wires for the façade greenery and the sun protection systems also had to be assembled. An exciting schedule for our assembly teams. Especially since in some places quite large elements of approx. 1.25 x 3.50 meters also had to be assembled. Thanks to good preparation and coordination, however, we were able to bring this project to a very nice and good end." In early October, MGB Cladding Systems completed the final work.
