On the outskirts of Klaaswaal, a new residential area is being built with 120 low-energy and zero-in-the-meter homes. From terraced houses to semi-detached and detached houses, with beautiful architecture and located in the green or on the waterfront. The homes will be built in four phases, with prefabricated foundation beams from Schokindustrie providing a solid foundation.
Since 1934, Schokindustrie has been manufacturing and selling precast concrete products such as precast foundation beams, footings, piles and storage floors. The company works closely with Vroom Betonbouw for the assembly of the products. In this way, all the care surrounding the realization of a good foundation is taken out of your hands and a complete foundation is created from one source.
Schokindustrie and Vroom Betonbouw are also actively working together for Blom. Commissioned by contractor Gebrs. Hooghwerff, the companies produce and assemble approximately 1,000 meters of precast foundation beams per phase, says Charlotte van Hellenberg Hubar - De Vreede, commercial technical advisor at Schokindustrie. “The first precast foundation beams were delivered at the end of 2023, and we completed phase 3 just before the construction period. A fourth phase is coming soon.”
Blom is the first project in which Gebrs. Hooghwerff applied Schokindustrie's precast foundation beams, Van Hellenberg Hubar - De Vreede knows. “We were involved at an early stage in coordinating the details for the first phase, resulting in a smooth execution. The communication between our project manager, the foreman and the work planner on site was good and pleasant, which also applied to logistics and assembly. All prefabricated foundation beams were transported just-in-time to Klaaswaal, where they were assembled in just two days. This allowed Gebrs. Hooghwerff to proceed quickly with the rest of the construction. The contractor was so satisfied with this approach that we were also awarded the follow-up phases.”
“The big advantage of precast foundation beams is the high construction speed,” she emphasizes. “Also, precast foundation beams benefit working conditions.” Indeed, at Schokindustrie, precast foundation beams are always produced under constant working and climatic conditions. “To ensure that all beams fit perfectly, the positions for the recesses and provisions must be communicated in good time. Our engineers then check the structural advice, suggesting optimizations where necessary, for example with regard to pile positions and beam dimensions. All concrete elements are produced and delivered under KOMO and CSC certification.”
