The Liv inn concept gives the elderly a unique living experience: they continue to live independently for as long as possible in a residential building with communal areas as its beating heart. Since 2020, Klomp Technisch Buro has collaborated on the installation technology of three of these projects, with the Liv inn in Alkmaar as the icing on the cake. Operations manager Carlo Nonneman explains what makes this project so special.
Family business Klomp is known as an innovative cooperation partner in the fields of installation technology, roofing technology and energy technology. Nonneman: "We work with more than 150 people, divided over four operating companies. Our projects range from residential homes to large utility projects." For client Habion, Klomp went to work on the installation technology for the very first Liv inn in 2020. "We worked on that with great pride. We made our contribution to a sustainable and pleasant indoor climate by equipping the residential building with energy-efficient installations. For example, we do water, plumbing, sewerage, heating and ventilation. And that's where control technology comes in: we integrate all those concepts into one complete management system."
The newest addition to the Liv inn family is in Alkmaar: Hoeverstaete. Nonneman: "The building has become incredibly beautiful with a cinema environment and a bingo area, living kitchen, hairdresser and pedicure. And even a gym." He says the beauty of the Liv inn concept is the participation future residents get. "That involvement is nice to see, the residents are really looking forward to their new place." And the fact that the details look different for each project also makes it varied work for Klomp. "The modules are slightly different every time." According to Nonneman, the challenge of the Liv inn projects is in building in inhabited environments. "It is a vulnerable target group, so you want to take extra good account of that. You can't drill all day long and cause nuisance. You are working in someone's home after all."
Nonneman looks back on the project with pride. "Project leaders Erik Slagter and foreman Willem Jonker have done an incredibly good job, together with all our mechanics. Especially the cooperation with partners Elektropartners and Draisma Bouw ran smoothly. Without good partners you don't get a project like this done. You have to be incredibly well matched and fortunately we are."
