Do you want to build safer, faster, stronger and more durable with precast facade elements?

Leviat is a world leader in lifting, connection and anchoring technology for construction and industry. "From ground-level housing to high-rise projects and from masonry support to concrete and precast construction: we devise, model and make technical solutions as well as innovative products that enable contractors and concrete manufacturers to build safer, faster and stronger, but also sustainable and demountable," says Meerten Siertsema, Concrete Sales Manager at Leviat. "By thinking along with us from an early stage in terms of technology and assembly, clients are completely relieved. That this is appreciated is proven by many long and close customer relationships."

Leviat's main objective is to increase efficiency and safety on construction sites worldwide. "We also help contractors and concrete manufacturers to build faster and more sustainably," Siertsema says. "All around us we see that construction sites are getting smaller and smaller and safety requirements are getting stricter. Moreover, the number of masons willing to stand on scaffolding in all weathers is becoming increasingly scarce. Prefabrication, where, for example, facade elements are assembled under the best climatic and working conditions, delivered just-in-time and lifted directly from trucks into the building frame, offers a solution to these issues. Leviat goes along with this with a complete range of precast anchors, sandwich anchors and transport anchors. Our range includes various anchoring techniques, which enable contractors to build in a demountable and therefore sustainable and circular way, without sacrificing strength, rigidity and stability."

For building detailing, precast element dimensions and the horizontal, vertical and/or transverse force loads to be transferred, the Halfen HPF precast anchorage can be configured in different types.

Halfen HEK3 precast connection

A widely used precast connection in Leviat's range is the Halfen HEK2, which received an innovative successor at the beginning of this year: HEK3. "The Halfen HEK3 precast connection is an innovative and versatile product solution that enables a simple and fast dry connection of precast concrete elements. Both horizontally and vertically," says Michel Overdijk, Senior Project Engineer Concrete at Leviat. "Thanks to our solution, precast concrete elements such as walls and facades can be connected easily and quickly. This eliminates the need for mechanics on site to work with mortars. Moreover, long propping and/or special tools are not necessary. A torque wrench is sufficient."

Compared to its predecessor, the Halfen HEK3 precast connection offers greater adjustability, allowing construction tolerances to be accommodated even better. "This saves considerably on repair time and costs," says Overdijk. "The drilling of alternative (repair) anchors is no longer necessary, thus meeting an important desire in the market. Moreover, thanks to the dry connection, demountable construction becomes possible." Siertsema: "The connection is immediately and fully constructively loadable after assembly, which ensures an even faster construction process. In addition, contractors and concrete manufacturers benefit from a very complete system including magnetic recesses for the concrete formwork and free Halfen calculation software."

With the Halfen HPF precast anchorage, Leviat provides quick and practical installation of, for example, precast concrete ties.

Also new to Leviat's range is the Halfen HPF precast anchorage. "With this new configurable anchoring solution, we provide fast and practical installation of prefabricated concrete ties, for example," says Mark Henrix, Project Engineer Concrete at Leviat. "These concrete bands are often used as closed infill and as a stylish change between open window frame elements. For the detailing of the building, the dimensions of the precast element and the horizontal, vertical and/or transverse force loads to be transferred, the Halfen HPF precast anchorage can be configured in different types."

The basis of anchoring is always a console, which is fixed to the floor with chemical anchors, Halfen anchor rails or Halfen Demu fixing anchors. "In the factory or on the construction site, a hook plate is additionally attached to the precast concrete band, so that this element can be suspended to the floor like a kitchen cabinet and completely blind. An adjustment plate with slotted holes provides the desired vertical adjustability. Thus we also offer a correct technical fastening solution in this area." Meerten: "Moreover, we guarantee safe and fast (de)assembly on site. In practice, themes such as sustainable, demountable and circular construction may still be in their infancy, but we are ready for them. Our latest products confirm this."
