Share of recycled plastic in profiles continues to increase

Circular economy is part of DNA

Over the past 30 years, REHAU has invested a great deal to make the production of windows and doors sustainable. For example, EcoPuls profiles today consist of recycled material up to 75%. Thanks to the German manufacturer's circular economy, PVC can also be recycled and reprocessed up to 7 times. All systems in the range - SYNEGO NL, BRILLANT-DESIGN and EURO-DESIGN - today bear the EcoPuls label.

"Sustainability and a circular economy are part of our DNA. Our four European plants are therefore VinylPlus-certified and thus meet all the sustainability criteria imposed on the PVC industry," begins Roberto van den Berg, account manager at REHAU Window Solutions BNL. "Thanks to a unique extrusion process, we can produce profiles at these plants, the core of which consists of recycled plastic. The so-called EcoPuls profiles already consist of 40 to 75% of recycled material and that percentage will only increase in the future. Using that material saves up to 97,000 tons of CO2 emissions per year. In our recycling facilities, some 70,000 tons of old material are recycled annually for the production of new PVC profiles. Compared to the standard production of new full-core PVC, this generates 88% less CO2. As a matter of fact, PVC can be recycled and reprocessed up to 7 times at our facility."

EcoPulse windows

The EcoPuls label identifies windows produced according to REHAU's sustainability concept. The German manufacturer is proud that all of its systems can bear this label: SYNEGO NL, BRILLANT-DESIGN and EURO-DESIGN. "These window systems also guarantee good thermal insulation. In combination with triple-insulating glazing, they score high in terms of Uw values and deliver energy savings of up to 76%," indicates the account manager. "In the end, the energy costs for the consumer are significantly lower, a comfortable warmth is created, the value of the home increases, as well as choosing a circular system, produced with consideration for the environment and the future generation."

SYNEGO EN family

Those who install SYNEGO NL elements - recognizable by their characteristic profile shape for the Dutch market - immediately enjoy these advantages. However, there is more, because the unique construction depth of this profile system allows the use of special functional glazing with increased sound insulation. This keeps the noise out, providing peace of mind, additional comfort and a relaxed atmosphere in the home. In terms of burglary protection, these elements easily achieve resistance class RC 2 and, with the right additional measures, even RC 3. Thanks to the improved security technology of the Smart Guard 2 system from REHAU, burglars certainly do not stand a chance. After all, they quickly look for an easier target if they cannot get a window open within a few seconds or have already been detected by the Smart Guard in advance. 

"The windows, balcony and terrace doors, lift-and-slide doors and sliding systems (SLIDE) from the SYNEGO NL range are characterized by their slim design profiles. They also score highly in terms of thermal insulation - a Uf of up to 1.0 W/(m²K) for standard windows and 1.3 W/(m²K) for sliding systems - and sound insulation (Rw up to 46 dB)," Van den Berg explains. "The special sealing system prevents drafts and moisture, and the High Definition Finishing (HDF) technology creates very smooth, dense profile surfaces, on which dirt and deposits do not get a grip. Finally, there is the KALEIDO COLOR color range. This allows you to choose from over 400 designs: classic white or black, warm wood motifs, aluminum looks, glossy finishes, traditional foil or sprayed design. The color on the inside and outside can even be different - all tailored to the consumer's taste."
