Whether it is brackets for pipe fixing, rail systems or roof mounting, all these products are used daily by thousands of installers in their work. For Walraven, manufacturer and supplier of these installation materials, this means a huge network of end users. The family business with headquarters in Mijdrecht supplies directly to the wholesaler, but does not lose sight of the installer.
"We take over direct contact with the end user and guide our client's customer directly on BIM-related issues. Our products are constructionally too important to operate outside the BIM environment," says Ruud Koene of Walraven. To give an example: Walraven developed and produced the frames for the solar panels on the flat roof of the new cultural palace Amare in The Hague. "That delivery started with putting the frames together based on construction and wind load. Some of the frames were prefabricated in our factory. We directly supervised the installer in this. In terms of drawing work, we run fully in the project's Revit® environment. This is very important, because a roof with solar panels has many users and objects. In addition, Amare is a project that has been extensively tested by the client. It is therefore important that component suppliers, such as Walraven, participate fully in BIM; also in the context of documentation. After all, BIM models record your project and the parts used in detail. Walraven wants to play a leading role in this process towards the client and its customers."
In this way Walraven relieves the wholesaler, the installer and ultimately the general contractor. For example, for Milder, manufacturer and importer of plastic pipe systems, Walraven developed a pipe fixing system for a WKO installation. In this project, attached heat exchanger systems were installed for residential use; a large diameter of PE pipework was needed to transport hot and cold water. One of the main reasons the general contractor selected Walraven as supplier was that the engineers use Revit® design software. Says Koene, "Using Revit® software allows our engineers to deliver consistent, coordinated and complete model-based designs and documentation. And by using the integrated BIMObject when specifying Walraven products, engineers can develop custom pipe fasteners and spot problems early. This not only results in safe and easy installation, it also prevents waste, failure costs and costly corrective actions. BIM is better."
