Making headway with wireless switches in wooden residential tower

Van den Pol Elektrotechniek is a regular co-maker of ERA Contour. "At SAWA, we are responsible for all E-facilities in the apartments and common areas," says business unit leader of Residential Construction Bob Oostendorp. Wood is an innovative building system. "That presents us with all kinds of challenges, both in the preliminary stage and during execution. Therefore, it is a great advantage - in fact, even a prerequisite - that this project is being realized by partners who know each other well."

A mock-up provided advance insight into the building and installations down to the detail level. "Early in the process, the openings had to be determined; they affect the construction. All pipes through floors are fitted with membranes and are thus sealed airtight. Furthermore, there are specific requirements regarding fire safety."

Smart solutions

Approval of new construction techniques takes time. "That is why we are fully committed to smart solutions that shorten the lead time. A good example are the 727 wireless switches, for Van den Pol the standard on every project. They are delivered pre-programmed so that we can soon speed up on the construction site."
