Commissioned by BINX Smartility, facade builder JM van Delft & zn of Drunen is supplying and assembling all steel interior facades for the renovation of the University Library in Amsterdam. The project includes a wide range of steel applications, including fire-resistant and arched facades and an impressive folding wall 9 meters wide.
A special aspect of this project is the complex logistics. Given its central location in the heart of Amsterdam, traditional transport by road is not an option. To reach the construction site, all materials were transported by water. JM van Delft & zn delivered the facades and other materials to a logistics hub, from where they were transported by boat to pontoons at the construction site. This required precise planning and intensive cooperation with the parties involved.
Thanks to good coordination with the general contractor, this process went smoothly and efficiently. It is a great example of how flexibility and smart logistics are essential in inner-city construction projects.
The project is nearing completion and JM van Delft & zn's work is expected to be completed by the end of March. This project highlights the Drunen facade builder's expertise in inner-city construction projects, overcoming logistical challenges with innovative solutions.
