Anyone who soon visits the Heineken Experience cannot ignore the work of Jonkers Bouwmetaal. The specialist in everything to do with steel and glass is responsible, among other things, for the large boiler through which visitors can walk.
Roelof Jonkers: "It was a very special object to work on. We cut through the old boiler and lowered the lower part. That part is concealed in the floor, with a walkable glass plate over it. So soon you can walk through the boiler, in fact you walk óver one part and look up into the other part." Although this element is striking, Jonkers also took on the entire structural part and has been involved in the project from the beginning.
"We really only do special projects, that's our specialty. We also often do this together with Salverda, a fine party to work with." Jonkers also collaborated on The Valley's special residential towers by supplying and assembling all the exterior fencing. "We are strong in customization down to the last detail, we also did this together with Salverda at Artis. At Heineken Experience, our responsibilities include the stairs and fencing. Both in the new section and for the modifications of the old section."
An important part of the project is still to come. "We will soon make and install the roof lights for the new reception area. That was a complex part because the staircase hanging from the building goes right through the roof light. The engineering is now behind us and production is in full swing. It certainly still requires effort to get everything done right."
