Scala College has a high number of aluminum window frames and curtain walls. With 265 window frames and ten curtain walls, the contract for Lieftink Geveltechniek falls into the "substantial" category. In addition, fifteen windows must be equipped with electric controls. This requires a link with Schüco's window system, complete with home automation elements.
Lieftink Geveltechniek can count itself among the regular relations of du Prie bouw & ontwikkeling. The two companies work together on a regular basis. "You notice that in everything," says Joost Plompen, director of Lieftink Geveltechniek. "The people at du Prie and Lieftink know each other. They know what to expect from each other. That makes working together very enjoyable." Most recently, this collaboration involved a school in Alphen aan den Rijn.
To realize the electrically controlled windows, Lieftink Geveltechniek works together with Schüco. In addition, the installer is provided with the necessary information in detail to ensure that the systems speak the same language. "We also coordinate with each other where one system stops and the other starts. This information must be exchanged early so that both parties know what to order and what not to order."
The swing door in the main entrance was converted to an automatic sliding door at the last minute. "That decision is completely understandable. A revolving door is more prone to failure and the sliding door lends itself better to the entrance of many schoolchildren at the same time. For us, it took some switching. Together with the architect, we figured out how best to facilitate the access of the many schoolchildren."
Wide experience in school construction has also made Lieftink Geveltechniek adept at hardware. "As an outsider it is not easy to make the combination between regulations and practice. We have extensive experience in this. We know what works and what doesn't. We like to share that knowledge."
