To insulate Hollanderwijk homes, the existing concrete floors in the living rooms are being demolished. Each week, TN Demolition and Remediation drives a small crane into a home for this purpose and removes the existing concrete floor. It delivers the rubble to a rubble processor, which turns it into granulate.
To prevent damage, TN Demolition and Remediation in Hollanderwijk had to work carefully. Partly because of this, it took some time to find the right working method. "In the first homes, we approached the demolition work in different ways," says Marijn Castelijn, co-director of TN Demolition and Remediation. "As a result, we now know that the approach with the small crane is the most efficient."
In performing the demolition work, TN Demolition and Remediation follows the contractor's pace. Castelijn: "We are active in one home for two days each week. During these days we also tackle the additional work. If asbestos is present, for example, we ensure expert remediation in accordance with prescribed protocols. When we close the door, the room is ready for the installation of a new, insulated floor."
Working in Hollanderwijk is attractive to Castelijn. He likes the narrow streets, the contact with local residents and the friendly cooperation with the contractor. "Of course narrow streets are not convenient. For example, the container is not always right in front of the door. But the working atmosphere is fine!"
Although Hollanderwijk is basically a series of small works, TN Demolition & Remediation is also expert in large works. "Our work ranges from renovation demolition and total demolition to small buildings and entire residential areas. We have all the equipment needed for this in-house. In addition, demolition work is inseparable from separation, reuse and recycling. Large batches of beams, roof tiles and window frames find their way back into new projects thanks to our mediation."
