From apartment complexes to schools, hospitals, offices and institutions: Van der Gun Schilderwerken B.V. has been providing painting and glazing work in new construction projects for more than 50 years, in a radius of about 75 kilometers around Utrecht. The renowned company also regularly carries out repair work on glazing in prefab elements, combining excellent craftsmanship with good service and reliability.
"As an organization, we focus entirely on new construction projects," says Commercial Director Richard van der Gun. "A conscious choice, because a new construction painter simply has a different working method than a maintenance painter. Instead of doing several pre-treatments and then providing the woodwork with a pre- and/or final coat of paint, our paintwork has to be right the first time after repair. Additionally, in new construction, it is common to put on only one coat of paint, regardless of the building type. Social housing, free sector housing and luxury detached homes are finished in the same way. Nevertheless, in many cases we recommend applying a second coat of paint. Especially in luxury housing construction, where buyers often check off an entire home for its aesthetic finish." By applying a second coat of paint, you get a better result and different perception, which will also make the delivery easier, he says. "The additional price for this is in no relation to the cost of repairs afterwards, possible litigation and/or negative advertising on the many social media groups, which buyers make frequent use of today. Not for nothing do we advise contractors not to make painting a closing item."
From window frames and exterior facades to interior walls and ceilings, Van der Gun Schilderwerken B.V. is happy to take care of any glazing and painting work in and on a building. During the painting work, the specialist from Vianen also includes the steelwork that remains in sight. Even if that has to be painted fire-resistant. "We also provide all kinds of wallpaper work," Van der Gun explains. "For example, think of glass fleece wallpaper, which is then dusted off, but also luxury wall coverings such as Vescom vinyl wallpaper."
Following in the footsteps of exterior glazing, there are increasing demands on interior glazing as well, he notes. "For example, in the area of fire resistance, which we can provide excellently." But this is by no means the only change in the market. Van der Gun sees, for example, that window frames are increasingly being delivered to the building site completely painted and glazed from the factory. This not only changes the role of the carpentry factory, but also of Van der Gun Schilderwerken B.V. "Previously, all painting work was done on the building site, but since the financial crisis, construction methods have changed greatly. As a company you have to keep up with this. Therefore, where necessary, we also carry out repair work for carpentry factories and glass suppliers, at the time when something has been damaged on the construction site or when, for example, the glass has not been delivered on time. As a result, contractors and end customers are still assured of a high-quality delivery result."
Beautiful reference projects of Van der Gun Schilderwerken B.V. are for example phases 1 to 4 of project Zijdebalen in Utrecht, the renovation of Villa Jongerius in Utrecht and the 181 apartments of project Maaszicht in Grave, which also resulted in a nomination for the Nationale SchildersVakprijs. Will your project be among them soon?
