'Construction presents itself as a very strong sector, which we are happy to support'

Fortunately, the corona crisis has had limited impact on new construction and renovation projects. "Contractor parties and other stakeholders are actively and in close consultation looking for ways - with the corona measures in mind - to organize the construction as well as possible and keep everyone working," notes Kees de Jong, general manager of Mucon, specialist in supplying and assembling conditioned spaces. "With this, construction profiles itself as a very strong sector, which we are happy to support from A to Z. From the advice and design process to the delivery, assembly and service and maintenance of freezer doors, refrigeration doors and commercial doors, sandwich panels and wall and floor profiles. Thanks to our committed way of building and because we work with A-brand products, customers are assured of optimum durability, quality and service. Even in this day and age."

From its offices in Etten-Leur and Varsseveld, Mucon realizes a diversity of projects. From cold stores and freezers to production sites and distribution centers for the meat and fish processing industry and agribusiness. "At the moment we are involved in, among other things, the construction of ARDO's fully automatic cold store in Zundert (contracting company Fraanje B.V.), as well as the expansion of Chefs Culinar's premises in Nijmegen (Wijnen Bouw). In addition, we have received an order for the realization of a fully automatic freezer house for Pandriks in Meppel (De Boer Staalbouw) and we may co-build smoothie factory 'The Blender' in the port of Rotterdam (B-Built BV)."

Approachable and involved

"Where the theory ends and situations require specific customized solutions, Mucon's knowledge and expertise comes into its own optimally," De Jong emphasizes. "We distinguish ourselves by an involved and approachable attitude. From the mechanics and project leaders in the field to the calculators, work planners and management in the office." Mucon employs 35 passionate and experienced people. In addition, the company can build on several trusted installation companies that have at least 10-15 years of experience with the company, its products and its approach that is approachable and committed. Whereas in the past Mucon offered projects based on ready-made drawings, nowadays the specialist in conditioned spaces is often already involved in the preliminary phase of a project. "In a construction team with the consultant, architect and other specialists, we like to map out the possible products, versions and any challenges," says De Jong. "This allows us to even better fulfill the wishes of the end customer; sustainable, energetic and according to current laws and regulations. Attention to sustainability and circularity

De Jong notices that there are increasing demands on the thermal envelope of a building. "Mucon contributes to this by not only working with the best (A-brand) products, but also by selecting suppliers who value sustainability and circularity. The buildings we realize today all meet the BREEAM requirements. In order to achieve this, we often work with QuadCore™, a hard foam insulation material with a smaller, closed cell structure that is processed in the sandwich panels and which enables us to achieve very high insulation values, better fire safety and better environmental performance. And we also contribute to optimal quality with our structural detailing - the way we build a conditioned space or building."

Mucon invariably works out all projects in BIM. "Of all our product families, we also have the BIM information available. This information is verified by the manufacturers, so our customers are assured of reliable and up-to-date information."
