Platform on new construction, renovation, restoration and transformation
Thermo Konstrukties BV is a leading partner in aluminum facade construction. The company has been designing, producing and assembling top quality aluminum windows, doors and curtain walls for over 35 years. Both for residential and utility projects. “Aluminum is durable, low-maintenance and of very high quality,” says director Albert Derks. “The material has excellent weather resistance and retains its aesthetic value even after a long time. The many projects we realize in cooperation with architects, contractors and other clients prove this.”
A great project example is the expansion of VTS Transport & Logistics in Boxmeer with a state-of-the-art pharma warehouse. “For this project we realized both the curtain walls and window frames on behalf of Bouwbedrijf van de Ven,” explains project engineer Joost Thissen. “Special here are the curved lines of the curtain wall. In our production hall in Cuijk, we cylindrically bent aluminum uprights 200 mm deep. The curved curtain walls also contain curved glass, with an area of no less than 5.8 square meters per pane! In total, we produced and assembled 935 m2 of curtain wall, in combination with 155 m2 of window strips, fifteen doors and a double door. The basis of the curtain walls is Reynaers” ConceptWall (CW) 50-HI curtain wall system, in which decorative tubes are attached to the outside. For the frame strips in the factory hall, the Reynaers ConceptSystem (CS) 77 window system was chosen."
In the heart of Eindhoven, the completion of Nieuw Bergen, which consists of five new buildings and two renovation buildings, is approaching. Commissioned by contractor Stam + De Koning, Thermo Konstrukties BV is producing and assembling no less than 7,600 m2 of aluminum window frames and 300 m2 of curtain walls for this project, says project engineer Edwin Hendriks. “For building 1 and 2, we are also providing the aluminum flashing (sheet metal) around the window frames.” Characteristic of New Bergen are the sloping roofs and large areas of glass, which provide an open character and maximum daylight penetration. “Our window frames follow the slope of these roofs. This maximizes our expertise.”
The frames and glass are already assembled into the facade elements in the production hall of Thermo Konstrukties BV in Cuijk, after which they are transported ready-made and by trucks to the construction site in Eindhoven. As a result, a complete residential floor can be closed within two working days, Hendriks said. "Only the typesetting is assembled on site. Once a floor is finished, the interior portals are finished on site."
In mid-August, Thermo Konstrukties BV completed the new construction of Lighthouse in Eindhoven (also known as Toren Niko). The aluminum facade specialist is also involved in several expansion projects for ASML in Veldhoven, says Derks. “In addition, we will soon start the new construction of Hof van Rijswijk; an assignment from Kondor Wessels that involves the redevelopment of former shopping center De Terp into a contemporary residential location.”
Thermo Konstrukties BV is often involved in new construction and renovation projects as early as the advisory phase. “In this phase, we proactively think along with the client, architect and contractor to arrive at the correct appearance and detailing/connection of the façade elements,” Derks said. “After the calculation and quotation process, our work planners take care of the BIM elaboration of the elements, after which production is also started from this BIM model. All products are transported to the construction site including hinges and locks, where our own skilled fitters or a third party takes care of the assembly. Completely in accordance with the VMGR and our own terms and conditions. In doing so, clients deal with one point of contact, who coordinates the project from A to Z.”
Thermo Konstrukties BV has its own modern equipped production hall in Cuijk, where semi- and fully automatic CNC machines guarantee high quality and accurate dimensions. There is also a bending shop here for the bending of aluminum sheet metal. In 2023, the production hall has been expanded with a 2,600 m2 new building, where complete element facades are fitted with aluminum frames, windows, doors under the best climatic and working conditions. “Then the elements are transported to construction just-in-time, creating a wind- and watertight facade in no time.”
