An architectural showpiece that dominates the skyline of Turnhout, Belgium, Kempus is a progressive building that attracts attention not only for its architectural qualities, but especially for its ambitious mission and vision of tomorrow's collaboration and enterprise.
The opening of this new building project in 2023 was an important milestone for both ICT company Van Roey and small, modern businesses that value sustainability and innovation.
Kempus Turnhout is more than just an office building; it is a dynamic business center where employees of Van Roey and other creative companies meet, inspire and collaborate. Director Patrick Van Roey explains: "This new building offers us more space, but more importantly, the goal is to make it a central knowledge center in the Kempen region where IT knowledge is developed and shared. It is a place where customers and employees feel at home and where new collaborations can be established."
In the 5,500-square-foot workspace for 300 employees, Kempus is strongly committed to sustainability. This result is achieved through the application of advanced technologies such as geothermal energy, climate ceilings, the collection and use of rainwater and as many as 860 solar panels. Hence the choice of DELABIE's TEMPOMATIC 4 sink faucet in the washrooms. Because this faucet is set at 3 liters per minute, has an anti-blocking safety in flowing mode and operates exclusively thanks to infrared presence detection, it saves up to 90 percent water. Thus, it contributes to a minimal ecological footprint. In addition, the TEMPOMATIC 4 also offers total hygiene thanks to the absence of manual contact and features an antibacterial periodic rinse every 24 hours after the last use.
The careful selection of products for the Kempus building reflects not only an effort for sustainability, but also for harmonious design. The focus on contemporary aesthetics and efficiency results in an environment that is both inspiring and functional. For this reason, DELABIE accessories such as the folding Be-Line® handle, the HIGHFLOW hand dryer and the soap dispenser were also chosen. The Be-Line® handle is not only functional, but also improves user comfort. The HIGHFLOW hand dryer is compact and features a double air jet for a fast drying time of only 10 to 12 seconds. Thanks to its anti-blocking safety, the hand dryer stops when used continuously for more than 60 seconds. The soap dispenser features a smooth push button plus an anti-blocking system that ensures that only one dose of soap is dispensed, even when the button is held down for long periods of time. Together, these easy-to-use accessories form an attractive aesthetic, while maintaining an absence of medical stigma.
Going beyond corporate and environmental goals, Kempus Turnhout has a strong commitment to health, wellness and the local community. By focusing on local hiring and healthy, sustainable food from local production, Kempus creates a positive impact on both its employees and the environment. A portion of profits are invested in community initiatives, strengthening Kempus' role as a responsible and innovative company in the region.
Kempus Turnhout is an example of how modern architecture, innovation, design, well-being and sustainability can go hand in hand with successful business. In doing so, it sets a new standard for business centers.
