Platform on new construction, renovation, restoration and transformation
The former home of YellowBellies previously housed a BSO. “That will be expanded in the new building at the same location with a daycare center. On the second floor will be the YellowBellies headquarters, which is currently located in Oudewater,” said Nicky Wijman, project manager on behalf of Van den Pol Elektrotechniek.
Van den Pol thought about the new building as early as the design phase, in consultation with Arco Architects. “The function of the complex makes specific demands on the installations. There is a relatively large amount of technology in the building, with security as a crucial element. This is why our security specialists are closely involved in this project. Given the vulnerable target group, the fire alarm system has a high classification, also in terms of cabling. In the event of an alarm, the entire building is evacuated.”
The new YellowBellies facility is equipped with LED lighting. “These are dimmable in all classrooms. Employees can adjust the lighting to the children's moods or create more atmosphere. Furthermore, lights are prevented from turning on unexpectedly, waking sleeping children.”
To ensure that no lights are left on after closing time, the system is equipped with a so-called wipe function. “When the alarm is turned on, all the lights are automatically turned off,” he said.”
YellowBellies also does not escape the effects of grid congestion. “A connection of three times 80 amps has been granted. More is not possible. When all installations are running at maximum, it can get tight. That's why we monitor consumption. At eighty percent of the grid connection, the power is automatically capped. The green energy generated from the solar panels is mainly used for the heat pump.”
The new construction involves many parties from Montfoort and the surrounding area. “Many are companies that we regularly encounter on other projects. We know what we can gain from each other and that's very pleasant.” The construction partners share a common motive, notes Wijman. “This site is an essential facility for employees of regional companies. Several of my colleagues have children at YellowBellies and our oldest will soon be enrolled as well. That personal link makes this a special project.”
