Tight finishing in high tempo

Smooth plastering and spackling in a regular rhythm

In Lighthouse Eindhoven, all walls and ceilings were given the same high-quality finish. For the team from plasterers Timmers BV, this meant a large project with a lot of volume, a long lead time and a tight pace per floor. According to Mark Timmers, the work went remarkably smoothly precisely because of the good coordination with Stam + De Koning.

In residential construction, a simpler finish is often chosen after which walls are wallpaper-ready. At Lighthouse, the bar was higher. Timmers: “We applied smooth plaster everywhere, a fairly luxurious finish.” The ceilings were finished with spackling.

With over 330 apartments over 33 floors, tight organization was required. “We were fortunate to have a long lead time, totaling about a year and a half to two years. There were about ten days per floor.” According to Timmers, that schedule was always met, and sometimes even earlier. For execution, the company deployed two teams of plasterers and a spackling crew.

Construction logistics via hub

An important part of the project's success, according to Timmers, was logistics. Stam + De Koning worked with a construction hub, where the materials from all the executing parties were delivered to the right place in the building in the evening. It took some getting used to at first, says Timmers, but the system worked well. “We indicated per floor what we needed. Of course that took some searching, but after the first few floors it ran very well. And because all floors are similar, it ran like clockwork after that.”

He also calls the guidance from the contractor strong. “Stam + De Koning has a lot of experience with high-rise buildings in the city. We received very good guidance from the project team. As a result, we experienced the entire project as very smooth.”

Proud of the result

For Timmers, Lighthouse Eindhoven is a project to look back on with pleasure. Not only because of the size, but also because of the cooperation on construction. “The atmosphere was tremendously good. We are enormously proud that we were allowed to work on it. When you pass it, you really see that something is standing.”
