For residents, businesses and visitors

Schmit Parking Solutions supplies, installs and maintains the parking solutions for the Elements mobility hub in Haarlem. "The work gets more and more complex, but that's what makes it fun," he says.

Schmit Parking Solutions specializes in providing residential and commercial parking solutions. It usually involves locking in the form of a barrier or speedgate in combination with an access control system. Director Pieter Bakker: "Residents then receive a transmitter or pass to open the gate. But there is an increasing demand for the possibility of being able to admit visitors based on their license plate number or a QR code." 

The mobility hub in Haarlem also houses some companies and they have different parking needs than residents. Bakker: "We install parking equipment here that allows the employees of those companies and residents to drive in and out based on license plate recognition. Does their license plate number change or are they driving a rental car? Then they can change this license plate themselves in the service portal. Incidentally, we also work with fall-back: if the license plate doesn't work, the driver can still drive in by entering a code on the touchscreen."

What makes this project special is that the companies in the mobility hub also get visitors. They can select the right company through the touch screen and ask for access through an intercom. But the company can also reserve a spot in advance, so that the visitor gets access based on his license plate number. "Visitors to residents gain access by pressing a button, which registers their license plate number. They then pay on exit. For this project, we are therefore also supplying a payment kiosk. The companies also have the option of giving their visitors a discount or allowing them to park for free. We see more and more that such a combination of solutions is chosen. That makes the work complex, but keeps it for
us nice, too."
