Three decades of experience in groutless flooring

With more than 30 years of experience in jointless/seamless steel fiber reinforced floors, Twintec can rightly call itself a specialist in this field. On an annual basis, Twintec realizes more than 4 million m² of ecologically sound floors worldwide. The flooring specialist emphatically focuses on making industrial floors more sustainable. Marieke Pitlo of Twintec Netherlands discusses the various possibilities with us, as well as the progress in the ecological field.

"Realizing a customized, ecologically and sustainably sound floor in accordance with our Design, Build and Guarantee philosophy is the starting point in all situations," begins Pitlo. "Our in-house Research & Engineering department tailors the floor design entirely to the client's requirements, within the frameworks and possibilities of the building in question. Where necessary, we do not fail to work out innovative techniques and applications. With well-trained employees, the latest machine technology, experienced project construction management and logistical skills, we then turn our words into action. Finally, with Twintec, clients are assured of a quality floor for years to come. We offer a high service level, even after the floors are delivered, with a 10-year insured warranty."

Twintec in development
Basically, Twintec distinguishes four floor types. Pitlo: "The Freeplan is a relatively standard steel-fiber reinforced, jointless floor. With Twinplan, we offer a similar steel-fiber reinforced, jointless floor but with a high flatness standard. In the Twintec Ultimate, we combine the properties of both traditional reinforcement and steel fiber resulting in a 100% seamless and flat floor. Finally, the FreeplanXT is the ideal floor for outdoor applications. We are constantly fine-tuning and further developing our floors, including from an ecological perspective. In light of this, our Research & Engineering department is currently developing the Twintec Eco, an industrial floor in which the usual steel fibers are replaced by a recycled product, the Twincon fiber. It represents a revolution in the reduction of CO2-footprint. The production of Twincon fiber consumes only 5% of energy compared to the same production with traditional steel fiber, so we can make huge strides environmentally. Twintec Eco is currently undergoing extensive testing and is expected to be introduced later this year."

Light reflection
In fact, the Twintec Plus is also a development in the context of reducing CO2-footprint and suitable for both existing and new floors. "With this treatment, we can give an old floor a new look. We grind off a microscopic layer of the top layer and treat the top layer with an environmentally friendly and dust-binding liquid. This liquid penetrates deep into the concrete floor and will form an active bond with the free lime particles in the floor. The result is better compaction and a harder top layer, anti-slip according to DIN 51131, which also reduces water and oil absorption by 90%. Twintec Plus simplifies the maintenance and cleaning process and is also a sustainable solution because the process uses the components already present in the concrete floor. The floor will become completely dust-free after this process. Twintec Plus is available in five gloss levels. Due to the high light reflectance values, less lighting is required, thus reducing energy consumption. Again, this is beneficial for CO2-emissions."

The best floor for every building and then preferably realized in the most ecological way possible, that is what Twintec stands for. Not only in the Netherlands, but all over the world.
