Knauf Insulation celebrates 10-year anniversary of ECOSE® Technology

In construction, the focus on a healthy (indoor) climate, environmental impact in production and sustainable processing, is increasing hand over fist. Glass wool insulation from Knauf Insulation was ahead of its time 10 years ago with ECOSE^®Technology. ECOSE is a binder based on natural, biobased raw materials. The brown-colored material has no chemical additives such as formaldehyde, dyes, acrylic, phenol or other chemicals. In addition, it is much more pleasant for processors because it does not itch or irritate.

Better and healthier throughout the life cycle
Sustainability is about LCA (Life Cycle Assessment), or total environmental impact throughout the life cycle. Glass wool or mineral wool with ECOSE^®Technology contains up to 80% of recycled glass and the production of this binder costs 70% less energy compared to traditional binders. Thanks to these aspects, the material contributes additional points for a BREEAM-NL certification.Knauf Insulation's glass wool products also have the 'Indoor Air Comfort Standard Gold' certificate from Eurofins. An indication that healthy indoor air quality is maintained with these products. And that fits the trend where there is more attention to air quality in relation to health problems such as allergies, concentration problems and reduced resistance.

ECOSE^®Technology will exist exactly 10 years in 2019. Insulation material that thus scores highly on sustainability, health and on the functions it is ultimately intended for: perfectethermal, acoustic and fire-resistant properties.
