Solarlux's glass folding and sliding walls not only score high marks in facade openings, but also excel in interior environments. Multifunctional accommodation De Tirrel in Winsum is a very nice example of this. "In this project, our innovative and full-glass Ecoline Flexa harmonica partitions not only provide flexible room layouts, but also meet high sound insulation requirements," says Ries Wiering, Account Manager North-West Region at Solarlux. "In addition, the partition walls contribute to optimal room aesthetics. Transparency, sense of space and light are maintained at all times."
"Together with Team 4 Architects, we selected the right folding walls for De Tirrel," says Wiering. "The walls of the Ecoline Flexa system can be fully opened and easily slid away to the side, allowing both the schools, childcare and eldercare in De Tirrel to benefit from a customized space. The system can achieve as much as 45 dB of soundproofing, so the various groups do not experience noise pollution from each other." The system is under-running, he says, so the weight of the folding walls rests on the flat bottom rail. "A sleek and flat design with 3S-Protection prevents dirt accumulation in the floor rails. In addition, tripping hazards are prevented." Currently, Ecoline Flexa is one of the narrowest profile systems on the market. "If you put two wings together, you have a sight width of only 99 mm."
Solarlux's glass folding and sliding walls enable multifunctional use of space in all kinds of buildings. "Our folding walls allow users to switch very quickly between one large space or several small(er) spaces," Wiering said. "And that without compromising daylight access, fine sightlines and social interaction. This makes our interior walls ideally suited for schools, offices, (residential) care buildings, restaurants and hotels. In short: for all spaces in which flexible use is desired. Because the glass interior walls can be supplied with a wooden or aluminum profile and in numerous surface treatments, architects retain their design freedom at all times."
Solarlux's interior glass walls are offered under the name Flexa. "Distinctive features of our Flexa folding and sliding partitions are the extremely slim profiles, large glass surfaces and easy operation, combined with an extensive range of finishes," Wiering says. "Besides the aforementioned Ecoline Flexa harmonic partitions, the SL 45 Flexa, for example, is very popular. This is an overhead folding wall system with a high degree of flexibility and a wide range of opening options. Barrier-free floor rails guarantee a barrier-free transition from one part of the room to another. Depending on the choice of glass and the quality of the structural connections, a basic noise reduction of up to 39 dB is possible."
Both the SL 45 Flexa and Ecoline Flexa have an aluminum profile. "Whereas the SL 45 Flexa is an uninsulated aluminum system, the Ecoline Flexa features insulated aluminum," Wiering says. "This also makes the system ideally suited for restaurants and hotels. For example, because indoor and outdoor terraces can easily be coupled or separated." If one prefers a wooden profile, Solarlux offers the SL 65 Flexa, which combines the warm atmosphere of wood with all the advantages of the Flexa system series.
Surprising corner solutions can be created with all three systems. "Crazy building shapes are no problem at all," concludes Wiering. "Very pleasant for users is also that the systems are low maintenance. The hardware is made of high-quality stainless steel. Both during and after assembly, the systems can easily be readjusted horizontally and vertically, so that post-installation of the building does not pose any problems for operation. Because the folding walls include a wicket door as standard, the functionality of the rooms is maintained at all times."
