'Much benefit from good work preparation'

Complete S- and W-installation residential tower

Installation company ICD Techniek engineered and installed the complete plumbing and heating system for residential tower 70LUX in Zoetermeer.

ICD Techniek has been working with a young and driven team on new construction and renovation projects for building contractors since 2009. The work ranges from plumbing, cooling and heating to ventilation systems. Project Manager Arjon Noordegraaf of ICD Techniek: "Main contractor STATON Bouw asked us to make a complete S- and W-installation for this residential tower. This included the sewerage, water piping, waste water pump, floor heating, a dry fire line and the assembly of the plumbing. One of our regular partners also installed a fogging system in the parking garage, which is a sprinkler system that atomizes."

Much time and attention work preparation

ICD Techniek was involved in the project at an early stage. Noordegraaf: "We paid a lot of time and attention to the work preparation and drawing work. This allowed us to tackle any problems during the preparation phase and map everything out clearly. We benefited a lot from this, as evidenced by the short lead time. It is nice working with STATON Bouw. The lines are short and we are all in it with an open mind." Especially in the preliminary phase, a lot of consultation took place. How do electrical and water pipes and ventilation ducts and sewage pipes run through the building and how do they fit together best?

The fast pace of construction was still quite a challenge for all the subcontractors, Noordegraaf points out. "We started there with a team of four people, but ended up walking around with twelve. We had a good look at who was best at what job. That all worked out well." Building at seventy meters in a location with little space also made this project special. There was considerable logistical planning behind getting all the materials to the construction site on time. Noordegraaf: "In the end, it worked out just fine. We managed to get everything together in a very short time. We are proud to have collaborated on this beautiful eye-catcher in the center of Zoetermeer."
