At business park Honderdland in Maasdijk, De Vries en Verburg Bouw is realizing a new commercial building for Stolze. Construction started in September 2021 and expected completion is in November 2022. “The cooperation with the clients and subcontractors is going very smoothly.”

Office, workshop and shipping

Stolze is a specialist in the field of electrical and water technology, supplemental lighting, automation and climate technology for horticulture and utilities. Currently, the company is located at two locations in Maasdijk, among other places. In the new, 12,000 m2 building, these locations will be merged. At the front will be the office, in the middle the workshop and in the rear part of the building the shipping area. “This will allow the employees to perform all their work from one location,” says Jan-Pieter van den Dool, project manager at main contractor De Vries en Verburg Bouw.

Stolze has invested a lot in the building to make it a representative and pleasant workplace. Van den Dool: “There will be an attractive entrance, a spacious canteen with balcony terrace, a fitness room for employees and a roof garden. Because of all this, the building also lends itself to staff parties and as a meeting place, for example.” De Vries en Verburg Bouw was selected during the construction team selection process. The construction company is working on several projects on Honderdland.

No extreme price increases or delivery times

Construction of the new commercial building for Stolze is proceeding smoothly. “The steel structure is in place and we are now assembling the curtain walls, pouring the compression layers and roofing,” Van den Dool says. “At the front, where the offices will be, another large glass wall is being installed. The sandwich panels around the workshop and shipping are already assembled. We have so far been able to order all materials well and on time. Deliveries of materials and price increases are erratic; we hope to limit this as much as possible toward completion.”

Nice work

In terms of sustainability, a roof garden was chosen, bringing a bit of greenery into the building. In addition, the glass facades are made of HR++ glass and equipped with good blinds to keep the heat out. Because the building will obviously be delivered gas-free, it will have a heat and cold storage system, solar panels and heat pumps. Among other things, recycled materials will be used for the interior. Van den Dool is satisfied with the progress of the project. “The cooperation with the client and superintendent is good and we also work well with the other construction team partners and subcontractors. These are mainly parties with whom we have worked before. Together with the architect and superintendent, we were able to make various optimizations for this building, including the curtain wall, which allowed us to build faster. It is a beautiful job and we are getting all the confidence of the client. We have construction team meetings every two weeks, which keeps us in constant dialogue and informed.”
