The first circular sandwich panels

The facades of Van Acht Koel- & Vriesopslag were constructed with sandwich panels. FALK bouwsystemen thus contributed an important part to the project. The beautiful bronze color of the panels (Colorcoat Prisma® Ephyra) makes the commercial building a real eye-catcher. But there is more that makes the panels special. 

To fulfill its high sustainability ambition, Van Acht chose circular sandwich panels. "FALK Bouwsystemen has invested a lot in recent years in making sandwich panels circular," says Patrick van Haaften, marketing manager of FALK Bouwsystemen. "And now we are the producer of the first circular sandwich panels in the world." FALK Bouwsystemen supplies the CradleCore® panels with a take-back guarantee. At the end of their service life, it takes the panels back, preserving the raw materials for the next generation. Upon purchase, the user pays a contribution for this take-back guarantee.

Circular sandwich panels are indistinguishable from regular sandwich panels. Properties such as insulation, fire resistance and color fastness are exactly of the same level. "The certificate makes the difference. The circular sandwich panels are some 40% less environmentally harmful, which contributes to obtaining various sustainability subsidies such as the MIAVamil G6100 or D6101. In addition, the low environmental impact helps achieve certifications such as BREEAM and LEED. The processing of the reclaimed sandwich panels takes place at InSus®'s new factory in Duiven."
