The design for the renovated Porsche Center Rotterdam required a sustainable roof solution under architecture. Licotec (translucent structures) provided a total solution for the roof construction, with skylights, gutters and roof curbs. "With this we relieve both client, architect and main contractor," says project manager Albert Riggeling.
The Porsche Center Rotterdam has a basic flat roof with roofing. Enlisted by the architect, Licotec engineered and manufactured a self-supporting sloping structure for the building: gabled roofs fitted with skylights with maximum light penetration, as well as walkable gutters. "From consulting to construction logistics, we can offer a total solution for such high-quality design questions," says Riggeling. "The contractor has an advisory duty to the client with regard to fall-through safety and roof maintenance requirements. With the chosen total solution, architecture, functional aspects and execution of the roof construction are in one hand."
Licotec produced eight skylights 20 meters long and 4.5 meters wide, as well as several smaller ones, as well as all gutters for the rainwater drainage. "The skylights feature ZHR++ glass with solar control coating and high insulation value. The gable roof structures were designed with a single ridge and only a few profiles for architectural and lighting reasons." The general contractor was relieved with a total execution solution, to which Licotec contributed its own cranes. In this case, Licotec also supplied the roof curbs. "This allowed a minimal number of parties to take care of the execution, a logistical requirement." The assembly phase was completed around Christmas 2020.
