Van den Pol Elektrotechniek is applying many of its areas of expertise to the two residential towers on Lomanlaan in Utrecht. “We’re installing the electrical systems for the apartments, common areas, and the underground parking garage,” says Bob Oostendorp, business unit manager for residential construction. “We’re also handling the lighting in the common areas, CCTV, and access control, as well as the parallel power supply and distribution panel for the thermal energy storage system. The parking garage will be equipped with a fire alarm system and charging stations.”
Van den Pol is a regular partner of ERA Contour. “Take, for example, the Merwedekanaal area in Utrecht. We’ve been working together there for years on De Nieuwe Defensie, a neighborhood with over 900 homes. Planning for such long-term projects requires meticulous attention to detail. We maintain close contact to ensure coordination.”
The added value of a well-coordinated team is also evident at Lomanlaan. “We’re familiar with each other’s work methods and know what to expect from one another. Safety is our top priority in our collaboration.” Inspired by ERA Contour, Van den Pol achieved Level 3 certification on the Safety Culture Ladder in 2020. “That has made a big difference for us in terms of safety awareness. In fact, we haven’t had any accidents resulting in lost time for six years now.”
In February 2026, Van den Pol became the first co-contractor to receive the ERA Contour Safety Award. Project managers and site supervisors were asked who deserved this recognition. One name emerged unanimously: Van den Pol Elektrotechniek. “We’re proud of this award,” says Oostendorp. “Safety is an ongoing process in which we regularly exchange experiences and best practices with ERA Contour. That way, we work together more safely all the time.”
