In the new Stadswerven in historic Dordrecht, project Wervenkade is rising. Commissioned by Bemog Projektontwikkeling, Hazenberg is building a building here in a special arrangement, with 63 homes, a green roof landscape and an indoor parking garage. The future residents will soon enjoy comfortable and luxurious living by the water. With an eye for Dordrecht's industrial past, Wervenkade lies idyllically among the existing flora and fauna. BudoBouw BV from Zwolle is responsible for the concrete works. We speak with Denis van Wijk and Jeroen van Ostaijen of BudoBouw about a special project.
"The homes are in square form," Van Ostaijen opens the conversation. "These are 41 apartments and 22 houses." A variety of housing types are available within the project, with living areas ranging from about 54 m2 to over 281 m2. The diversity of park homes, Merwede homes, quay homes, apartments and a penthouse offers options for all kinds of family compositions and for all ages. Van Ostaijen: "We have almost finished the foundation for the homes at this point, we are now working on the apartments." The houses connect to the apartments; the total has the shape of a ship.
"The three-story family homes have three large bedrooms. In addition, the homes have private parking, a spacious storage room, a living/working space on the first floor, a loft, an outdoor space on each floor and two entrances, with the front door adjacent to the green courtyard," Van Ostaijen said. Right next to the complex is a monument in the form of an old crane and towing dock. "The location and combination of housing types is truly unique, and future residents enjoy beautiful views on all sides." Van Wijk adds: "The foundation we are making is standard and executed with tubular steel piles (Vibro-piles) with a beam structure. For both the apartments and the houses, we apply hollow-core slabs on the first floor." Van Ostaijen: "The construction is done with wet walls, poured in DOKA formwork, i.e. poured on site. On top of that, wide slab floors are laid, supplied by third parties. The assembly of these, however, is taken care of by BudoBouw."
The houses have 3 floors, the apartments 8 floors. The van Wervenkade apartment building steps down with beautiful, green roof terraces. "There is a fixed tower crane for the apartments. For the apartments we will also use the fixed tower crane, except for a part of the apartments that is out of reach of this crane. A mobile crane will be used for that," Van Ostaijen outlines. "We are averaging six men on the job, the intention is that our concrete work will be completed before the construction period.
