Apartment buildings Palladio & Michelangelo add new élan to the Rotterdam borough of Prins-Alexander. Both size, scale and materialization are coordinated down to the last detail. While the use of white-gray brick gives the building tactility and an accessible appearance, spacious balconies provide extra dynamism, liveliness and residential enjoyment. The balcony glazing of Mview+ fits in perfectly with this.
Mview+ develops, manufactures and assembles unique facade solutions for optimal living and working comfort. The focus here is on the pillars of insulation, light and sound. "Our solutions consist mainly of glass and are applied as transparently as possible in projects," says Manager Operations Jelle van Maarseveen. "This makes optimal use of the available daylight. In combination with the beautiful and slim aluminum profiles, our products are an enrichment for every building. From new construction to renovation and transformation."
In residential buildings Palladio & Michelangelo, Mview+ sliding/turning systems were chosen for the first and second floors, allowing residents to open or close their balconies entirely as they wish and very easily. "Thanks to the sliding/turning system, residents can take maximum advantage of the sun in the summer months, while in the chilly winter months the balcony takes on a function as a winter garden," Van Maarseveen said. "The inward-turning glazing allows for easy cleaning. Because an extra shell is added in front of the facade, residents can save substantially on their energy consumption. In addition, a noise reduction of up to 22 dB is possible. On the third and fourth floors, Mview+ glass balustrades provide safety, elegance and transparency."
A special feature is that the balconies on the first, second and third floors are connected. "This made specific demands on the detailing," Van Maarseveen explains. "Also of the balcony glazing. To fulfil this perfectly, we like to be involved in projects at an early stage. In this project, together with V8 architects, we determined the right details, guaranteeing a high-quality appearance. Moreover, the municipality of Rotterdam required us to perform a "glass bead pendulum test" on site in order to demonstrate the (fall-through) safety of our balcony glazing. This test was performed successfully in early April, once again confirming the technical performance of our systems."
