'Beautiful property in a great location'

Aluminum exterior shell and steel interior frames

The new building of Nh1816 Insurances in Oudkarspel is equipped with aluminum window frames and curtain walls on the outside and steel office partition walls on the inside. J.M. van Delft & zn. supplied and installed all these products. "It's a super nice building in a beautiful location. Truly a gem."

Albert Emmers is project manager for the project on behalf of J.M. van Delft & zn. "The new building is in the polder, against a nature reserve. The employees have a beautiful view there. It is not a tall complex, but an elongated building of mostly one story, consisting of five connected blocks." The exterior is now almost complete; work is currently underway on the interior of the building, which will be completed in early 2024. Nh1816 Insurance will occupy it in June 2024.

Pleasant cooperation

J.M. van Delft & zn. was asked by general contractor De Geus Bouw to collaborate on the project. "We had previously worked with De Geus on the new construction of a school in Amsterdam. Because that project had gone so well, they came to us again. Initially for the outer shell of the building, with aluminum window frames and curtain walls. During the quotation phase, the steel interior frames were added. All in all, quite an order." Van Delft delivered and installed some 915 m2 of aluminum window frames based on the aluminum AWS-ADS 65 Schuco profiles and 700 m2 of curtain walls (FWS-50). Some of these are fire-resistant, so that any fire cannot spread from one block to another.

Black steel combined with oak wood

There were very specific requirements for the inside of the building. For example, the main load-bearing structure was constructed from thick oak beams, with black steel office dividing facades installed. Several fire-resistant steel facades were also installed, executed in a Jansen Eco 50 profile. "That combination of steel and wood turned out really nice. The result is a super beautiful building, really a gem. We certainly make beautiful window frames, but especially the location makes this a special building. You don't often come across such an expansive view."

J.M. van Delft & zn. draws, engineers, manufactures and installs all aluminum and steel window frames itself. The company plans to complete its work by January 2024.
