Optimized precast reinforcement for concrete structures

For Brisk's in-situ concrete construction, prefabricated reinforcement nets are used that are durable and produced in-house by Wadro of Drachten. "The combination of targeted advice and prefabricated production in cooperation with regular processors ensures solution-oriented customization, enabling just-in-time delivery and construction speed gains," says director Bart Henstra.

The Frisian family business Wadro is working with Avenhorns Vlechtbedrijf in Amsterdam to that end. "Reliable cooperation with permanent partners is becoming increasingly important," says Henstra. "Prefab production is taking an increasingly important place, because space on the construction site is limited and the number of hands on the site is decreasing. We want to deliver quality, be reliable and add knowledge. All these aspects come in handy in projects like Brisk, for which we have created an optimized reinforcement concept."

In-house production

Wadro is often called in when alternative reinforcement is desired. Henstra: "In this case optimized for processing during construction, with larger reinforcement nets. That also saves on materials used. That is sustainable anyway. We use rebar that is 99 percent scrap, and all the electricity in our production chain is green electricity. We also work only with European sourcing. The rebar production is completely in-house; we can make everything ourselves."

Long-term relationships

The reinforcement supplied for Brisk's concrete structure was delivered directly to the construction site, just-in-time. "All of the concrete structures in which we are involved were poured on the job," he said. These include the basement, the piers and the wide slab floors of the substructure, as well as the floors and walls of the superstructure. "From advice to delivery, we think solution-oriented, according to the values of the family business: a deal is a deal. This is the only way to maintain long-term relationships with construction partners," Henstra concludes.
