The great diversity of masonry in New Kralingen is made possible by Leviat's masonry supports. This is necessary because the homes will consist of masonry that differs from the standard. Fortunately, the company is good at picking up complex issues.
Leviat is a world leader providing lifting, connecting and anchoring technologies for the construction and industrial sectors. Within residential construction, it provides the right wall and floor connections, as well as improving fire resistance, thermal and acoustic performance. In Nieuw Kralingen, she ensures that masonry can be done safely, says Sales Engineer Hakan Küçükoğlu. "For example, the masonry above the window openings is cushioned by a steel lintel. We also have facade supports: an angle line with consoles that you attach to the rear structure. It's quite a project with several phases. Right now we are engineering and delivering."
The variation in the homes also causes the supports to deviate from the standard. Prefabricated lintels, curved, round and angled masonry supports all appear. This is therefore Leviat's specialty, Küçükoğlu said. "With row houses you often work with houses that are copies of each other, then you're done quickly. Here it is less easy."
The work is being commissioned by contractor Heijmans in conjunction with ERA Contour. That cooperation is going well, according to Küçükoğlu. ERA Contour is therefore a regular partner that Leviat has worked with for many years.
