On Monday, November 25, future residents, Alderman Arno Janssen of the Municipality of Papendrecht, Burgland Bouw, BPD and VORM gave the starting signal for the construction of sixteen new townhouses at Aviolandaplein and Bolwerk. After a collective loud countdown, Alderman Janssen poured the first concrete, filled with wish lists from all future residents. The 16 homes are being built by Burglandbouw. Realization will take less than a year. Completion is scheduled for the end of 2020.
In 2000, developers VORM and BPD jointly realized the first phase of residential area Merwehoofd in Papendrecht. In 2011, phase 7 of the residential area was completed. In the meantime, these developers have not been idle. Behind the scenes, they have been working hard on the follow-up phase: the realization of 16 spacious gas-free townhouses in Merwehoofd, divided into two- and three-story homes. Because of the difference in the number of floors, the living areas vary and no two homes are the same.
The homes in Merwehoofd are highly energy efficient. For example, energy consumption is minimized thanks to excellent insulation and ventilation. All homes are also equipped with underfloor heating and solar panels. "We build comfortable and sustainable homes that can last for generations and have the least possible impact on the environment," says Willem Romijn, Project Developer at VORM. "Every home will be connected to the heat grid. With this, the future residents are ready for a gas-free future," Romijn continued.
Phase 8 is the penultimate phase of Merwehoofd. In 2010, the underground parking garage was completed, on top of which the sixteen townhouses of phase 8 will be realized. Hans van den Steenhoven, Chief Structural Engineer at VOCON Engineering B.V. engineered the entire Merwehoofd project. "Merwehoofd was a super nice project, with all conceivable structural components, without any repetition," van den Steenhoven says. After a long tenure of more than 40 years at VORM, he will soon take his leave, to enjoy his well-deserved retirement.
Merwehoofd is a quiet neighborhood within walking distance of the center of Papendrecht with plenty of space to play; the sports fields and the three-river point are just around the corner. All homes in Merwehoofd phase 8 were sold in a very short period of time. in May 2019 the homes went on sale, after which the last home was sold in the summer vacations of 2019.
