Durable, practical and aesthetic

The apartment complex on the corner of Rösener Manzstraat and Korfmakersstraat in Delfshaven is completely up to date again. Commissioned by manager VVO Vastgoed, this building recently received an energetic and aesthetic upgrade, without losing sight of the functional value. As the main contractor, IJsselmonde was responsible for the complete facade renovation, from the preparation and design phase to the application of the facade insulation products supplied by Sto Isoned.

The apartment complex on the corner of Rösener Manzstraat and Korfmakersstraat in Delfshaven is completely up to date again. StoDeco frames have been installed around the window frames, emulating the concrete frames of the old facade.

"About two years ago we tackled three apartment buildings on Mathenesserweg, as a subcontractor to Heembouw," says Jacco Oostenbrug of IJsselmonde. "We fitted the facades of these flats with a Sto facade insulation system with decorative plaster and mineral stone strips, which VVO Vastgoed was very charmed by. So charmed, in fact, that we were approached for the sustainable upgrade of the apartment complex across the street."

"We were involved in the project from the very first sketches and contributed ideas on facade construction, execution and planning, among other things," Oostenbrug says. "In collaboration with our client and architect Wubben Chan Engineering, the right design, material and color combinations were also determined. For the insulation of all facades, the StoTherm Classic system was chosen. This facade insulation system consists of a high-quality polystyrene insulationplate (Top 32) that is glued to the façade, with a stress-distributing reinforcement layer on top. A combination of decorative plaster and mineral stone strips was chosen as the finish. Around the window frames, StoDeco moldings were installed, emulating the concrete frames of the old facade. This was not only a specific wish of our client, but also of the architectural committee. All the systems we apply have a KOMO certificate. In addition, we have a KOMO process certificate for their processing."

"StoTherm Classic is a cement-free exterior wall insulation system characterized by maximum tear resistance and optimal impact and shock resistance," says Niels Kempen, project manager at Sto Isoned. "Thunderstorms, hail, children playing soccer and vandalism do not affect the system at all. When mineral stone strips are used - due to the low renovation cycle - maintenance costs are also kept as low as possible. Sto mineral stone strips offer enormous design freedom. In combination with the very high insulation values, not only is an energetically and aesthetically pleasing facade achieved, but the property value also increases significantly."
